Honey Walnut Shrimp

 

Honey walnut shrimp is one of my guilty pleasures. It is sweet, savory, and crunchy. It is just a harmonious balance of flavors and textures. I feel like it is a dish that everyone should know how to make if you are a shrimp lover.

 

Ingredients

  • 24 shrimp

  • ½ cup walnuts

  • Vegetable oil for frying

BATTER:

  • 3 egg whites

  • ½ cup corn starch

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 tsp salt and pepper

CANDIED WALNUT GLAZE:

  • ¼ cup water

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

HONEY SAUCE:

  • 3 tbsp mayo

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1 tbsp condensed milk

  • 1 tbsp fresh orange juice

 

Instructions

Make your honey sauce by combining all ingredients in a bowl. In a pan, add candied walnut glaze ingredients until thick, add in walnuts. Coat in glaze. Transfer to parchment paper and let cool. 

Combine all batter ingredients into a bowl and batter your shrimp. Fry till golden brown and set aside. Once done, toss in 3 tbsp of honey condensed milk sauce onto shrimp. 

Sprinkle walnuts, garnish with orange slices, serve and Enjoy!
